I grew up riding horses in Michigan and then in Portland, Oregon. At the age of 13, when we moved to Oregon, I joined a barn with an active pony club. I quickly started moving through the ratings while competing at Novice and Training Horse Trials. After I graduated high school, I moved to Northern Alabama to be a working student and train with USET member, Jim Graham. I spent 7 years riding, teaching and competing in the southern and eastern parts of the US. I became an active member of Peytona Pony Club and achieved my B rating before aging out. I competed through the FEI CCI** level on several horses, represented Area III at the North American Young Riders Championships and competed at the Advanced level of eventing before retiring my horse due to injury. In 2004, I stopped riding to finish college. I graduated with a Masters Degree in Business in 2008, meeting my husband along the way. We currently operate a working farm, raising purebred goats and sheep, heritage pigs and poultry.
For the past 10 years, I’ve owned my own photography business. I photograph families, children, events and offer branding images for local businesses. I enjoy the work/life/ farm balance owning my business offers me and enjoy having a creative outlet.
While our kids have ridden on and off their whole lives, the summer of 2019 they started riding on a regular basis. At that point, (and after 15 years of not riding!) I decided it was time for me to get back in the saddle and bought a young horse to work with.
We bought two OTTB in the fall of 2020 and have enjoyed working with them this past year. Since then we have acquired 3 more OTTB's. We are working together to produced them as sport horses.
Our whole family are proud members of Somerset Hills Pony Club. Aiden and Anna are actively moving through the certification rating levels. I would like to achieve my H-A rating at some point and have lofty goals of achieving my A rating one day too.
