our horses
Masterio aka Max
Max is a 2017 Thoroughbred who last raced September 2020. We acquired Max from a trainer at the Monmouth Park race track in October 2020. Max is a lovely young horse with unlimited potential. He has taken every bit of training handed to him in stride and has been very fun to work with. PJ has done an amazing job with this horse balancing structured training sessions with time to mature and be turned out. In 2021, they competed in a few low jumper classes. In 2022, they will be compete in more jumper classes with the goal to compete in the thoroughbred jumper classes. They will also look to compete at some local horse trials and dressage shows.

Burntwood aka Burt
Burntwood is 2013 Thoroughbred we acquired from TRRAC in October 2020. Burntwood's last race was July 27, 2019 after 54 starts. After the track he was placed in a home where he would be restarted to be used as a school horse. He was returned to the TB aftercare program after 7 months. While in the market for some TBs to restart in the fall of 2020, we were offered the chance to take him. My hope was that this little horse could be a move up horse from ponies for Anna one day. We thought he was a lovely horse with a wonderful easy going temperament so we took him home!
At first he was ring sour, not very personable and just seemed to be mad at the world. He spent the first 9 months with a lot of time turned out, a lot of trail riding/hacking in fields and a lot of ground work. In his first year with Hilary, they focused on ground work attending multiple natural horsemanship clinics with Greg Eliel, have a steady foundation of dressage basics, competed in a few low jumper classes and a beginner novice schooling horse trials. After about 7 months he started to seek out attention, knicker when he saw me and slowly start coming out of his shell. Now he’s Mr. Personality!
This horse is super athletic in every way. He tries hard to answer the questions I throw at him. While he still has a way to go on his training, I’m proud of how far this little horse has come and that Anna has the chance to start riding him, teaching him and learning along the way.
Anna and Burt look forward to competing in more jumper shows, taking part in some of the Thoroughbred Incentive Program classes and may even try some hunter classes. In 2023, Anna completed her C1 Hunt Seat Equitation Pony Club Rating and competed in the NJ Region Dressage and Show Jumping Rallies.

Belly Dancer aka Lenny
Lenny is a 2013 OTTB standing 16.2 hands tall. He finished his career racing career with 90 starts on his record. He is athletic, built “up-hill” and a good mover. He is sired by Eskendereya and is out of an Affirmed mare, out of a Secretariat mare.
We acquired Lenny from Thoroughbred Aftercare, Rescue, Rehabilitation & Sanctuary (TRRAC) in West Chester, PA in the fall of 2020. He was thoughtfully started directly from the track by PJ and in his first year went to several schooling shows, jumping clear in the .80 & .90 classes. He also schooled beginner novice and novice level cross country fences in several locations.
In June of 2022, due to time constraints on PJ, Hilary took over the ride on Lenny full time. Hilary has spent a lot of time trying to achieve softness through ground work building on the work PJ did. Lenny is a sweetheart of a horse and eager to please. He is honest to fences and has loads of potential in dressage and show jumping.
In the upcoming year, Hilary hopes to show Lenny in some recognized dressage shows at the training level, have fun at local jumper shows and maybe even try out some hunter classes! They hope to be competitive in the Thoroughbred Incentive Program classes.
